Deadly Mold Poisons Pet Foods
By Shadrach on Feb 9, 2006 in Natural Dog & Cat Health, Natural Feeding

Arrrooo fellow pets and humans! We’ve shared with you here on Bark ‘N’ Blog what to feed that is natural to us dogs. We’ve shared with you about this Diamond Pet Food recall too. Now let’s see what Dr. Mercola has to say about all of this:
Toxic pet food may have killed dozens of dogs
Dr. Mercola’s comments:
Aflatoxin is a carcinogenic mold that grows on crops like peanuts and corn when they’re stressed from drought. It only takes a small amount of aflatoxin to ruin food and pretty much nothing can be done to deactivate it once it gets there.
If you’re concerned about your pet’s health as a result of this product recall, please check out this report that will provide details on which foods have been contaminated.
I hope the deaths of these animals will convince you to reconsider modifying your pet’s diet from processed food containing unnecessary grains to fresh meat and vegetables.

Hi Maryann,
We haven’t heard about this recall on the food but we’d venture to say that it is again probably something toxic in the food. Truth be told most of these packaged foods (ie kibble and canned food) are NOT organic no matter who is selling them. If you want to feed a packaged food try http://www.GreatLife4Pets.com -or just feed raw meat and bones as that’s the best way to go.
If corporate won’t tell you anything I’d bet they have something pretty serious to hide. Tell the media and see if they can find out
Pet food industry at their best -deception as usual.
