Calling for an end to annual pet vaccinations

hanging_out_in_my_new_livingroom2I’m not surprised that the media didn’t want to share this letter bepaws, well, they are truly bought and paid for by big pharma, big agra, and big industry, WOOF! There is no true journalism in mainstream news anymore. It’s who can pay the highest, sigh.

But those who care about us animals continue the fight for what is right. Yep I’m a poet and I know it hehe. Here’s the news from Canine Health Concern:

Last month, 33 veterinarians and medical doctors from around the world signed a letter to the press. They were calling for an end to annual vaccination. When they sign such a letter, professionals risk censure from their professional organisations, which could end their careers.

Other vets told us they wanted to sign the letter, but feared for their businesses, or they feared ‘upsetting’ their veterinary colleagues. The last time a group of vets got together to sign a similar letter, which appeared in Veterinary Times, they were threatened with being struck off. To see the letter:

Over a hundred pet owners signed another letter. Many signed because their dogs had died or become ill following an unnecessary vaccine booster. To see the letter:

A covering press release summarises the issues:

Although it was sent to national newspapers, TV and radio, no-one published it. And yet don’t you think it’s scandalous that pet owners are being encouraged to vaccinate their pets when it’s not necessary? It’s not just that pet owners are being asked to spend money unnecessarily.

The real shame is that pets can have reactions to their vaccines – anything from allergies to skin problems to autoimmune diseases to cancer to death.

Fred Fulcher’s dog Rhett’s vaccine experience was not good. He had a fever, was treated for anaphylactic shock, passed out twice, and was finally euthanised due to kidney damage.

Liz Garrick’s Akita, Kodi, had a serious reaction to his first vaccine: he had a high temperature, slept continuously, and he had to be syringed water every hour. Then he developed a skin condition. He lost hair around his eyes, nose and legs. He had painful sores all over his body. He can only walk on grass as his feet are so painful.

James Myers bred a puppy who began to have epileptic fits on the evening of his second annual booster. The vet denied this ‘coincidence’.

Sukunimi Finni, a Finish Spitz, received his first rabies vaccination on June 11, 2007, and a booster on 27th May 2008. A few days later, his owners noticed a change in his behaviour. He was suddenly afraid of water. Three weeks later he had his first epileptic fit. The seizures were repeated every two-to-three weeks. Finni’s condition deteriorated until his owners had no option but to put him to sleep.

Mac, Elena Woess’s Golden Retriever was vaccinated and three days later, he had his first ever epileptic fit. The second came within twelve hours. Elena says, “I was never aware of the damage the vaccinations can bring. I know my dog well and I also know, although my vet and the doctors at the clinic deny any connection to the vaccination (their argument: length of time it took to react and same vaccination in previous years), that THIS WAS the cause of Mac’s epileptic fit. I don’t know if epilepsy will be Mac’s and our companion for the next years to come. We are devastated and heart broken. I wish our vet informed us or at least admitted the possibility.”
